Tshethar Ritual
In Tibetan Tshethar means “giving freedom” and is formed by the syllables “Tshe” – life and “Thar” – liberation. In the Buddhist Mahayana tradition, offering sentient beings the gift of life in freedom is an act of generosity that requires compassion and wisdom and strengthens one’s own life force: By helping others one helps oneself.
With this motivation, animals threatened with death – in this case brown trout – are bought from local fish farmers and released into freedom.
Also this year the Tshethar Ritual will take place in the beautiful surrounding of the Gautinger Schlosspark. During the ceremony Tulku Khyungdor Rinpoche will recite special Mantras and Dharanis, which serve the life force of the liberated animals. Through the power of the ceremony, the brown trout receive the blessing and empowerment for their new life in freedom. These recitations also have a vitalizing effect on visitors, especially those who contribute to the liberation.
The blessed fish are then released into their new life in the little river Würm. Guests have the opportunity to participate actively by purchasing and releasing a desired number of fish. The purchase of the fish at the price of three euros per piece is possible in advance or directly on site. Families with children are also very welcome to take part in this special ritual in the middle of nature.
We are happy to receive your registration in advance so that we can calculate the correct number of places and fish. However, spontaneous participation is also possible.
